Using Adobe Acrobat Pro (Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.1) with Lion (10.7.2), I can open but cannot print PDF files.
My printer (Lexmark e120) has no problem handling all other types of documents. But when I select PRINT for a PDF file, the printer icon will show the number of copies chosen (indicated by a red circle with white number inside) and then just not do anything (whereupon the red circle disappears); nothing shows up in the printer queue.
All software has been updated to latest versions.
Any suggestions?

I had that problem with Adobe Reader in an earlier version of OS X and solved it by repairing printer permissions with Print Therapy. Unfortunately, PT has not been updated, as of now, for Lion. Repair permissions with Disk Utility; DU may have been beefed up to the point where it does this. At any rate, it won't cause any harm.

Repaired permissions: Nothing needed repairing.

In CUPS error log, I find the following (repeatedly) but don't know if it's relevant or what to do about it if it is:
W [29/Nov/2011:13:18:05 -0600] [CGI] Missing NickName and ModelName in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Lexmark E120n.gz!

Strangely enough, I can print PDF files if I open them in Preview.

Something's truly off with Acrobat: It sends the data to the printer, but clearly the printer won't recognize "incoming".

And stranger still: Problem apparently solved.

I went back into printer set-up after noting that the driver was set to generic postscript printer and selected the updated Lexmark e120n driver. Printing of a PDF file (opened in Acrobat Pro) proceeded without issue.

The error log message given previously appeared again, so it seems to have no relevance to the printing issue.

Sheesh.
