Printing HOTMAIL message

The print function does not work when trying to print a HOTMAIL message.

There are no printer problems with sending other files (et al) from my MacBookPro using either Time Capsule or by connecting directly with the USB port/cable to the MBP.

The OSX is 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

The problem is unique to using HOTMAIL.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any "fixes" or "work-a-rounds" - other than cut/paste? (Note: Trying to save the e-mail as a PDF does not work either.)

Thanks for any help.

"does not work" provides us with so little information as to be completely useless. Tell us what you see, what you're trying to do, what you're expecting to happen, and what really happens.

Does not work means literally does not work.

I click on the PRINTER ICON and absolutely nothing happens. (Normally, the printer would "kick in" - EXCEPT when I try to use the HOTMAIL printer icon OR the drop down menu from the tool/task bar in FIREFOX to print HOTMAIL e-mails.)

As above:

I understand a preference for using Firefox.

As a troubleshooting step, what happens if you use an alternative browser such as Safari or Google Chrome?

Or log into a test user account?

Thanks, Dianne.

I KNEW it had nothing to do with the printer or the computer. It just never dawned on me that it might be with the browser. (As mentioned earlier, I assumed the issue to be with HOTMAIL.)

The HOTMAIL "print" button works exactly as expected on SAFARI, while it does not work on FIREFOX.

Thanks again for the tip and the solution.

(Now if I could just get the HOTMAIL print button to work with FIREFOX . . . because I find it to be - usually - a more reliable browser.)

For starters, try my suggestion.

Print Therapy has fixed some weird problems for me and there's a seven day free trial so you're not risking anything. Awhile back, I could print normally from all apps except Adobe Reader. I repaired printer permissions (not touched by Disk Utility) with Print Therapy and the problem was solved.

I second Artie's suggestion about logging into a test account. Be aware that Firefox does not store its preferences, bookmarks, etc. in a way that is kosher according to Apple standards. Instead, all that stuff is in ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox.

Hi, MG2009

Thanks for the update.

In case this link to a locked thread at Firefox Help might provide any additional information, here you go: My printer won't print when I run Firefox.

Well, Folks. I bit the bullet.

I trashed anything related to FIREFOX or MOZILLA (in Library/Application Support as well as Preferences/plists and caches).

Shredded the Trash contents.

Then, using Safari, went to FIREFOX and re-downloaded the latest version 3.6.13 - and all is well. The PRINT BUTTON works in HOTMAIL (just as before the problem arose). The Computer, Printer and Time Capsule continue to work as they had all along.

Sometimes all the fiddling is not worth the time and effort . . . and simply starting over is the best solution. (I had backed-up the bookmarks as a html file, so these were easy to import to the "new" FIREFOX; just had to tweak the browser's preferences.)

Thanks a bunch for the assistance and all your efforts.
