OS 10.5.8
I went to use quicktime from the dock and it would not open.
I opened apps only to find the QT icon wasn't there. I trashed the QT icon from the dock and downloaded QT 7.6.9 from an apple
site using firefox. After installing and restarting, the QT icon did not appear. All I had was the installer icon and that led me nowhere. I trashed QT, restarted and downloaded QT again from apple using safari. I came up with the same results.
I seem to remember having this problem about a year ago but I can't remember what caused it.
Anyone have an idea?

I tried to extract the QT package but pacifist wouldn't work.

Even after several times (I paid the twenty dollars and it still wouldn't work.) A window said there wasn't enough disc space...I have well over 200 GB to spare.

I vaguely recall reading about a VLC & QT conflict so I googled it and there seems to be a problem between the two so I trashed everything VLC and QT. I then downloaded QT and it installed like it should, icon and all. I wonder if apple can sort out this apparent conflict?
