I have recently bought a set of JBL TUNE 600BTNC noise cancelling headphones and they paired immediately with my 2017 iMac18,3 running under macOS Catalina v10.15.3 (19D76).

However, my 10.5" iPad Pro Model MPME2b?A running under iOS 13.3.1 cannot "see" the cans even when they are placed right next to each other. I have carried out a hard reset on the iPad.

The iPad can see four unconnected devices under "My Devices" but nothing under "Other Devices".

I know little of Bluetooth so am at a loss to understand why I can't pair with the iPad, I have disconnected the link on the iMac whilst trouble-shooting.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction please?

Some Bluetooth devices require that you manually do something to send the pairing signal; something like push a button on the device.

The fact that your iMac saw them immediately might refute what I just said, but check the manual for the headphones and see if you can do something.

Update: according to a YouTube video, if you press and hold the power button, you should see a flashing blue light on your headphones; this is the Bluetooth pairing mode. At least on the video, the headphones then showed up under "Other Devices" on an iPhone.

Thanks.

I've had the blue flashing light which is, I presume, the cans polling for nearby Bluetooth devices but they never show up under Other Devices. the wheel keeps spinning showing that the iPad is looking around and it can pick up my Bluetooth enabled but non-smartphone so it isn't as if it cannot "see" anything at all.

I find it most odd.

Wow, belay that last drivel from me!

My friend's cans are a slightly older model and he had a slider which polled for Bluetooth. We, working together via Zoom, decided that a button with a zig-zag on it (a biy like a heart monitor trace) was the Bluetooth button and it did indeed set the blue light flashing.

After I had far too hastily replied to your most sage advice, I realised that and pressed and help the power button.

It worked, a thousand thanks and a thousand pardons for not thinking your response through properly!

I must engage brain before composing replies!

Thanks again.

All's well that ends well. smirk

Glad it worked out.
