An icon has appeared on my iPad and I have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. It is solid black with a silver "T" in the centre in what appears to be an Old London style font.

If I touch the icon, nothing happens, nothing opens.

If I hold another icon to get the removal "x", others have the "x" but it does not.

In Settings, the icon does not appear.

Thoughts?

Have you restarted your iPad — not just powered down and then turned on but holding down the Home Button and the Sleep/Wke buttons until the screen blanks and the Apple logo appears?

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

I hadn't but I have now…and the icon has disappeared. Do you know what it was?

EDIT: Got it….it's the NY Times icon which used to be in one of those combo icons with other print media. The reset has put it back into a combined icon except that it's by itself. crazy

I'm glad you found it. I have the NYT app but your description did not ring a bell.

I should have been able to catch it earlier, before starting a thread. Good thing we don't have a rule requiring FineTunedMac visitors to be awake. blush
