Since going to iOS 8.1.1, I don't get landscape view by positioning the phone. Is this pilot error or a feature?

Swipe from the bottom to the top of the screen to bring up the menu then on the top row of icons see if the portrait rotation icon is lighted or not. If it is lighted touch the icon to unlock the rotation feature.

I did. It was and I tapped it and the block was removed. Mission accomplished. You're a treasure, joemikeb, but I've said that before. Thanks a lot.

Thank my wife for that one. She taught me about that menu that makes features otherwise buried deep in some settings sub-menu quickly accesible.

Please pass on my gratitude to your wife. That was so easy. Once I knew the answer, I felt stupid asking the question, but that's the way it is with a lot of things.
Best regards.

Best regards. There is no such thing as a dumb question. If you don't ask it, that's dumb!

Thanks, Ira. I know that's true, but it's hard to swallow on something this simple.
