My wife's iPod had camera flash working well simply by using a quick touch on the shutter button. However, it has mysteriously stopped performing that way and now there is no flash. She does not think she touched any settings.

I've hunted for some setting to restore the function but found none. A system reset has also been done but to no avail.

Any other ideas?

On the Photo screen at the top left there is a lightning bolt icon. Touch tat icon and On and Off selections will show up. Choose On. The default is Auto which simply means the iPad will check the light and only flash if it decides the flash is needed. Off turns the flash off altogether. If the flash is set to On that disables HDR. The reason is HDR takes multiple exposures and chooses the best of the bunch. The flash cannot respond fast enough to keep up with the multiple exposures so when the flash is used HDR is turned off.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?
