Tethering

I have an iPad mini (no sim), I currently tether it to an HTC phone, it works fine for what I need, (light browsing and emails) I am however going to get an iphone because everything else on the HTC is impossible to sync properly with my Mac. I used a 3GS yesterday and managed to connect it to the ipad mini with bluetooth and tether it that way. It seemed to work pretty well but I am curious about the maximum download speed I will get with bluetooth? Would wi-fi be much faster? Can anyone help? Thanks

I am not sure this is the answer to the question you are asking, but a comparison of the relative speeds between bluetooth and WiFi (both are implementations of the 802.11 standard) see this Diffen article. However that does not say how it works out in actual practice nor does it address the issue of internet download speeds. That is a lot more complex.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Bluetooth vs. Wifi is pretty much irrelevant, since both are faster than 3G. It's a bit like saying "should I put tires on my car that are rated at 175 MPH or 180 MPH?" when the car itself can't go faster than 85.
