Does Time Machine have Backup Schedules like if I want it to start backing up at 2 am Iike I do on CCC. Or just turn the back up on and put a check on Automatic Backup then it will do back up of any file change I made all day. Hope u can show me where to create a schedule for TM and can I closed the laptop lid without backup stop;
I made partitions, one for my wife's backup using CCC and other partition for my backup using Time Machine.... Should that work??

Late 2013 MBP Retina H/S 10.13.3, Safari 11.3, Opera 51.0
Thanks
Ron

You cannot alter the backup schedule via MacOS, but there are several third-party apps that will allow you to modify it. Launch App Store and search for Time Machine. I have not personally used any of them so I can't give a recommendation.

Time Machine backups take place every hour so after the initial backups subsequent backups are relatively small an unnoticeable in normal use. The advantage of this scheme is you can go back in time on an hourly basis for up to three days then daily for a month and after that monthly.

As Jon mentioned there are third party apps that can modify the backup schedule, but that is not recommended and in part defeats some of the principle functionality of Time Machine. Personally I find I often go back an hour or two and sometimes a day or more, but almost never longer than that.

There are 2 options:
Either let TM do its (automatic) thing or — after selecting "Show Time Machine in menu bar" on the Time Machine panel in System Preferences — go to the TM icon in the menu bar and manually choose the option to "Back Up Now", which will allow you to back up more frequently than every hour.
But that's it, unless you go to a third-party app to fiddle with TM's guts — which you shouldn't.
