Using OS X DropBox over wifi

I have two Macs which I have frequently exchanged files between using my local wi-fi network and the DropBox in the other users Public folder. It's worked fine for the past couple of years.
I have recently installed Yosemite on one of the machines but left the other with Lion as it is too old for the new system. I can no longer connect the machines together over the wi-fi it seems to try, then reports 'connection failed'.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hmm, it seems Yosemite has/had wi-fi issues. Depending on what you read, it is either fixed or not fixed.

This article suggest a Terminal command to correct the problem. This second article says it's fixed, and this third article suggests going back to Mavericks!

Go figure. Make sure you have the latest updates for OS X 10.10 and Dropbox. I know Dropbox went through a series of updates to correct issues with Yosemite.

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.
