Yosemite and iCloud Drive

After a few minor problems (I had to install Yosemite over mavericks twice due to "Un unknown error" reported in Disk utility) all now seems to be going smoothly except ...

... In System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive, the Drive has been "Setting up ..." for over 24 hours.

Little Snitch isn't asking for any connection permissions and neither Force Quit nor Activity Monitor are showing anything as not responding.

What is likely to be the problem and how can I get it to either finish setting up or otherwise get the process to progress?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm. The first thing I'd try is disabling Little Snitch and trying to set it up again.

I have run into a couple of instances where a task completed, but for unknown reasons the word did not get back to the UI so that it could go on to the next screen or terminate properly. This sounds like what has happened in your case. Try quoting or force quitting the task and then click on the iCloud icon in Finder and see if everything appears normal. If not you may have to rerun the iCloud setup.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have disabled Little Snitch and rebooted the iMac - and still iCloud Drive is "Setting up ..." without going anywhere under System Preferences.

Under Activity Monitor the only processes seemingly related to "iCloud" are:

com.apple.iCloudHelper
com.apple.preferences.icloud.remoteservice
iCloud Photos

Force quitting those seems to make no difference as when i open iCloud Drive in System preferences it again just sits with "Setting up ...".

If I click on the iCloud icon in Finder's sidebar I get the iCloud Drive icon and the legend "Setting up iCloud Drive /..." with the spinning wheel ad nauseam - it goes no further.

There is no iCloud icon on the desktop itself.

When you say "rerun the iCloud setup" just how and where would I find that?

I have a feeling that I am being stupid and overlooking the obvious, but if that is the case then so be it!
