Clarification:

There is no ON/OFF switch, per se, for the TIME CAPSULE. However, I do not wish to have this stay on for 24/7.

Once TIME MACHINE has been used for backup and unmounted/ejected - and the Internet is no longer needed for the day - is it simply okay to unplug TIME CAPSULE to shut it "off" or is there another procedure to do so?

Thanks a bunch.

The only "switch" is the power cord. However, the Time Capsule is designed and built to run 24x365 which is the way it is used by the vast majority of users. Certainly that is the way I use mine. My wife would kill me if she ever picked up he iPad and the Airport/WiFi network were not available. shocked

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Before the issue becomes all too real shocked , you might want to point out to your wife that your death will NOT restore the Airport/WiFi network should that be down... smirk

Okay. Unplugging it it is.

I was concerned that there would have to be some kind of "un-mounting" procedure such as there is with (other kinds of) external hard drives.

Thanks for the information.

CLARIFICATION : I did realize that Time MACHINE has to be unmounted/ejected before the Time CAPSULE is shut off/unplugged.
