OS 6 imac 4 gb ram

I have just installed snow leopard on my backup only.
Photoshop elements 6 icon is there in the apps. but will not function. It has disappeared from the the dock and also it will not allow be placed in the dock.
My mail will not work either.
Somehow, when configuring, I missed the mail part. Can I get back to that window with the 4 options?

PE 6.0 (20080307.m.527) works well under Snow Leopard so I have no idea what may have happened to it on your machine. A reinstallation of PE 6 would be in order.

Assuming you had Mail installed and running on your "backup only" no configuration should have been required. However there is no need to go back to a previous step in the setup, nor is there a way to do that, simply go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and setup your account(s) there. If it is a MobileMe account go to System Preferences > MobileMe and enter your account id and password and that will automatically setup the MobileMe email account in Mail.

On the other hand if you installed Snow Leopard onto an empty drive and migrated your account and applications from the installation on the hard drive you can go to /Applications/Utilities and run Migration Assistant again. I have not run Migration Assistant a second time, but I see no reason why it would not work.

To uninstall Snow Leopard you would have to either do an Archive and Install (if it will let you) or and Erase and Install of your previous OS.

From the problems you are describing it would appear your system was already in trouble before you installed Snow Leopard.

By the way, what is OS 6? Did you mean to say OS X 10.6?

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Thank you for your response.
Fortunately, I have 2 identical backups and the 2nd one wasn't
affected and I was relieved to see it was still in 10.5.8
I booted up from that one and superdupered it to my HD.
Even after that, PE 6 wouldn't work.

So I did have to uninstall PE 6 and then reinstall it for it to be functional and then use superduper again to the other 2 partitions.
I am now back to square one. This the second time having 2 backups has proved it's worth.
And yes, I did mean OS X 10.6 in my post.
BTW, I managed to get my aple mail back to normal.
