Several times now I've been at my desktop and doing something with the trackpad and suddenly the icons on my desktop shrink a bit. This time they jumped from 64x64 to 40x40. I assume I'm hitting a gesture but I don't know what it is. No, it's not screen zooming. Any clues? I cmd-j and see my icon size is down to 40x40 and just drag it back to 64x64. but what caused it?? 10.6.8 with no 3rd parties that should be related.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Quick google search shows that doing a pinch zoom with your trackpad on the desktop will change the icon size. They mention turning it off in System Preferences -> Trackpad, but I'm not sure if that's specifically for this issue or turning off pinch zoom entirely.... don't have a trackpad here.
