Deleting Japanese Dictionaries

About 110 MB of HD space can be made available by going to:
Computer/Library/Dictionaries, and then deleting the two Japanese dictionaries and the one English-Japanese dictionary.

Are there any down-sides to doing this (as there are in deleting Asian fonts)?

I deleted everything in /Library/Dictionaries with the exception of

Apple Dictionary.dictionary
New Oxford American Dictionary.dictionary
Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus.dictionary

long ago with no observed ill effects.

Many thanks Artie!

The Japanese dictionaries are now deleted and with no consequence.

You're welcome, Harv.

My dictionaries fell victim to GrandPerspective, which I launch every once in a while to see which is the next biggest rectangle I can mess with. grin

Artie,

I looked at GrandPerspective, but I don't understand/appreciate the difference between it and OnmiDiskSweeper.

I'm guessing the essential data are the same, it's just in the manner it's portrayed? True?

One advantage could be the speed. Indeed Onmi is quite slow when first retrieving file size.

I've never run OmniDiskSweeper, Harv; my only forays into the world of file size have been with GrandPerspective and WhatSize.

I guess all apps of this ilk are similar, although some may not show invisibles, and some may have other features that others lack (and vise-versa).

I love GP for of its visual simplicity, i.e. I dont have to look at numbers...just look for the biggest rectangle, and the beauty of its presentation. (I sometimes play around with different themes just to see what I get.)

Unless somebody can come up with a serious functionality "hole" or flaw in GP that I haven't run across it's got my vote!
