You have a finder widow with five folders. You want to get your word file out of any of the folders and just sit on i'ts own in the finder. In past you would drag that to the top blue bar in the filder. That trick no longer seem s to be working. What do I do?

I like the path bar (a nice addition introduced by Leopard). Go to the View menu and choose Enable Path Bar. At the bottom of each Finder window now, a "breadcrumb trail" will appear. We can drag stuff to those icons, or double-click to navigate.
