Hackers need to get a life ...
Oh, they do have a life. Often it's quite a posh life, with multiple Ferraris parked in the climate controlled garage and a heated pool with waterfall out back. This kind of hacking makes big bucks.
A teenager in the UK was just sentenced for creating a tool that allows malicious actors to blast Web sites off the Net. The teen made $385,000 renting the tool out to others, mainly Eastern European organized crime. The only reason he was convicted is he kept detailed logs of all his customers; had he not done that, there would've been no evidence to convict him.
Doing this kind of work for nefarious purposes has huge payoffs. (The organized crime hacking group that created the most common ransomeware is bringing in some $15 million
per month.) They have lives you and I can only dream of.
