That will only work when you are using the Gmail web interface. It should not effect those using third party (non-Google) email clients such as Apple Mail. There is a similar feature in Messages on iOS 9 devices and in that case I find it invaluable. It is particularly useful when replying to Messages on the Apple Watch.
