I'll begin by asking if there's any way to mark posts as having been edited (so those who've read them pre-edit will know to re-read them)?

And, on the assumption that it can't be done, I'll ask everybody to post major new developments, fixes in particular, as new posts, rather than edits.

I just learned about a fix I'd never have know about, only because somebody posted a comment.

Thanks, all. smile

As I recall (and as I learned from past experience, ie, castigation for doing just that), the 'rule' is not to edit a post once a reply has been posted.
That deals with the issue effectively, assuming participants honor the policy.

Case in point: I edited this item 3 times (prior to any response).

Almost... In this particular instance the original post was edited to add a fix after I'd read it but in the absence of any responses.

I suspect that the solution is up to the editing poster to be obvious — if he/she/it really cares to be 'transparent'.
