At the outset, when I clicked on the "Forums" link at the top of an FTM page I was taken back to my last position (top, middle, or bottom) on the page before I left it; the last coupl'a days I've been taken back to the top of the page...most annoying!
Can the old behavior be restored?

That doesn't sound right. Are you absolutely sure that previously, you weren't clicking your browser's Back button instead? That would be expected behavior for use of the Back button.
