What they will tolerate on a mobile phone is not necessarily what they will tolerate on a device Apple is marketing as a transformational way of viewing the web.
I guarantee you, the more Apple gains market share...
Which is the problem, then? That Apple will
fail to gain market share by misreading the desires of the market? Or that Apple will
continue to gain market share—presumably, by making and selling devices that people want?
Seems to me that if all those unhappy over the iPad's shortcomings exercise their marketplace vote by simply
not buying the product, the draconian future you fear will never arrive.
