I'm not sure where this discussion is going (replacement software?) but I could get ⌘ and âŽ, also ⌫ even ➉ using PopChar , a very unobtrusive piece of software that has been around on the Mac for close to forever, and is supported on Lion (as well as earlier versions).
i almost mentioned PopChar a few posts back, but i hadn't used it since OS 9, and wasn't sure how far it had come.
