I won't even try to enumerate them, but since I upgraded to Ventura, I've run into all sorts of interface problems...things happening that shouldn't be happening, in my experience, in Finder and Safari...not serious, but annoying as all get out!

Anybody else?

I just discovered that my Location Services prefs were overridden, and options that I had disallowed had been allowed. That's not just annoying. It's nasty, and I might even say dangerous!

Not me, and I have upgraded two 27" iMacs to 13.5.2. (one a 2017 and the other a 2020). Could that be a clue... upgrades to desktops versus a laptop?

No problem. I'll take your AAARGH!!! as a signal I should wait a bit on Sonoma.

Here's an example of Aaargh!!!.

Since I upgraded, clicking on my desktop invokes "Show Desktop."

(See these screenshots.)

Through Monterrey, clicking on my desktop with no app in front did nothing, as in the top shot. Since I upgraded, I get the "window shade" effect seen in the second shot.

And clicking on it with an app in front , which used to leave the app in place and shift focus to my desktop, now hides the app as in the third shot.

Maybe it's new functionality, but since "Show Desktop" is still a key option in System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Shortcuts, I doubt it's other than a bug.

Another bug, which is only intermittent, is if I trash a desktop icon and then ⌘ Z it back, sometimes it overlays my top icon rather than going to the bottom as it should.

And another one is when I ⌘ V from my clipboard to a field in form, I experience a significant delay in the pasting such that if I tab to the next field too soon, the paste occurs in the new field.

Aaargh!!!

(I've reported the "Show Desktop" and pasting bugs.)

I am not sure the "Show Desktop" is a bug, but rather a new feature that is turned on by default; I too experienced it. If I understand your description it can be turned off in the Desktop setting. The way you see it here works for me with Stage Manager also turned OFF, although other variations may do the trick.

The first time you click on the Desktop after upgrading to Sonoma an info bubble pops up telling you how to change this setting. You might have missed it, and yes it is annoying.

I guessed above that it may be new functionality, so I obviously missed the pop-up. Thanks for directing me.

It certainly is annoying, but I guess it had to be made default, because since it's new functionality, it's not something users would think to search for.

Here's another one: I occasionally get blocks of assorted colors and sizes flashing in assorted locations on my screen...one block at a time. They pretty much never remain on-screen long enough to get a screenshot.

My best guess is that it happens when I unhide either Mail or Safari. I don't remember it ever happening in Music or Excel, which are the other apps I frequently visit.

All of a sudden, I'm unable to move anything from my desktop to trash without entering an admin password...case in point, a folder that's not locked, hasn't got anything in it, and never had anything in it. Neither can I move it to another location with drag & command-drop, in which case, a duplicate appears in the new location and can be trashed, but the original remains in place and untouchable.

I've shut down/started up and run First Aid (but not from Recovery).

Any suggestions?

Update: It occurred to me to get info on my desktop, and I found that it somehow got locked...definitely not by me, no way even accidentaly. I've unlocked it, and al is copacetic.

I can agree that settings can change quite mysteriously. Just yesterday the setting to show the wi-fi icon in my menu bar got turned off. Not by me, most certainly. Not as serious as a mystery lock on your Desktop, but it seems there can be "ghosts in the machine".

Spontaneously changing prefs have been an ongoing problem with OS X & macOS since time immemorial, and, in fact, I'm immensely annoyed that new upgrades, for all of their new bells & whistles, continuously fail to address that problem, as well as others that have been reported many times for, in some cases, many years.

And as the volume of the underlying code gets bigger and bigger with each new upgrade, it becomes less and less likely that Apple will ever address those bugs.

Haven't you said elsewhere that you haven't upgraded to Sonoma?

I was going to post that I read an update was coming to Sonoma just a month after its release. Then I read the original post that said Ventura, which explains the oops!

Now I see that the oops! was yours and the thread is about Sonoma. I claim a "senior moment".

Anyway, a new Sonoma update may cure some of your issues.

I think I have this right now...

Yes, you've got it right, but, very sad to say, the update hasn't cured a single one of my issues with either Sonoma or Safari 17.

My most annoying problem has been solved, though, but that's because it turned out to be an issue with a third party app and with a more responsive developer than Apple.
