Since my Internet interference and resultant dropouts started up again the day after I reported that they'd stopped I'm going to try to follow V1's advice.

The easiest way for me to accomplish that will be to use the cable that came with my DSL modem and which has a USB connection at one end and a USB/Ethernet "Y" at the other if, and it's a BIG if, I can keep both sides of the "Y" plugged in at the same time, i.e. the USB side plugged into my AirPort Express Base Station and the Ethernet side plugged into the my MacBook's Ethernet port.

Will this duplication of Internet access, wired and wireless, cause any sort of mayhem?

Thanks.

That almost certainly will not work. The Mac and the router will both try to get the same IP address from the modem.

What you need to do is connect a cable from the modem to the router, and a second cable from the compute to the router.

I was worried about a possible short circuit or other electronic glitch resulting from the double input, but if my only fear is a benign conflict I guess I have nothing to lose by trying.

"Almost certainly" sounds terminal but not necessarily fatal.

What say you?

Thanks.

Well... I'm not suicidal, so...

Thanks for the input.
