I've also gone through the 11.6.1 to 11.6.2 updates and haven't noticed any problems with Excel (although my needs are simple, sans any complicated functions).

However, I've noticed that Word is periodically doing some oddball things. For instance I just had a multi-page document open and, for no apparent reason, the scroll bar stopped functioning. It's blue colour disappeared and it just didn't work.

This has happened a couple of times. In a document I could still highlight text going from one page to another but I couldn't navigate between pages using the scroll bar.

If I Save, Quit and reopen Word, the scroll bar returns.

I've seen this happen in Word a few times. Usually, switching to another program, then going back to Word by clicking on its icon in the Dock will bring the scroll bar back. I've noticed that switching to another program and then switching back to Word by clicking on a Word window often *doesn't* bring the scrollbar back.

Is this pre or post the 11.6.1 and 11.6.2 updates? My problems have only arisen since the upgrades and appear to be getting a bit worse.

I've seen it both pre and post. It appears to be a bug in the way Word brings a window to life when it's moved to the foreground, and as near as I can tell exists in all versions of Word 11.
