How To Get Rid of Smiley Face by Username?

I love the new site, it already feels like home, but why is there a yellow smiley face next to my name when everyone else has the grey, expressionless one? I don't see anything in "Edit Profile" to change it.

I realize I'm in the minority, but I prefer to use my words rather than cutsie faces to express what I'm thinking and feeling! Sorry! blush

It's an Online/Offline indicator on whether someone is logged in currently or not.

That smiley is an online indicator; it's yellow when you are and grey when you're not. It's not new here, so maybe you just never noticed it before?

I'd personally prefer a different indicator, but don't know how easy it would be to change them. If others would like something else too, maybe tacit can look into it later as time allows.

Edit - Oops...I should have refreshed the page before posting. Thanks, Kevin.

Thanks, Kevin and Cyn.

No, I never noticed it before! I guess I didn't do much posting over at MacFixit so my opportunities to pick up on that were limited; my final post count was 334. You all were so good at answering questions that my expertise was rarely needed!

I guess I can live with the online smiley, but it has a slightly nauseated look on its face and I get a bit queasy myself just looking at it. tongue (Just kidding.)

Right! wink

Bob, that grey guy (whom you will never see next to your name) just has his eyes and mouth closed. grin

replying to Gregg because he's the last to post...

I would prefer the option to disable the online/offline indicator if possible?

replying to nessuk because he/she asked something I might know the answer to...

Go to your preferences (Edit Preferences under the My Stuff drop down above)
Change the last item to Yes
Let us know if that works

Ah, yes, I must have done that when I first signed up for MacFixIt, because I checked some of my archives and I always had the sleepy face next to my name. It's nice to be able to shut my eyes again!

Thanks, Gregg!
